TRACK REVIEW
25km
The 25km is a undulating track aimed to give a small taste of what endurance riding is really like. This will travel through Bunyip State Park across some lovely soft gravel footing with a small amount of gravel roads and 300m of bitumen at the start and end of the leg. On this track, there will be a small amount of riding along a frequently used gravel road but there is plenty of verge to get off the road safely. This distance is achievable for any horse ridden in moderate work (3-4hrs a week min) and for riders who simply would like to come and try endurance.
40km
For anyone new or just staring out to endurance the 40km ride offers a fantastic opportunity to experience the sport of endurance with an undulating track or start to prepare young horses for 80km rides. This will travel through Bunyip State Park across some lovely soft gravel footing, clay based tracks, soft sand based tracks and gravel roads and 300m of bitumen at the start and end of the leg. This distance is achievable for any horse ridden in moderate work (4-5hrs a week min) and for riders who simply would like to come and try endurance.
85km
this is a technical track, it is constantly undulating track with 4 decent hill climbs across both legs. For those riders with seasoned 80km horses, this is a great competitive track that will give your horse plenty of opportunity to prove themselves as well as test riders technical abilities in our beautiful Bunyip State Park. If you have a novice horse this is still achievable, but ride to the conditions and your horse. The first leg will travel across mainly soft gravel footing, soft sand based tracks and 300m of bitumen at the start and end of the leg. The second leg will travel through Bunyip State Park across some lovely soft gravel footing, clay based tracks, soft sand based tracks with a small amount of gravel roads and 300m of bitumen at the start and end of the leg.
*PLEASE NOTE FOR ALL RIDERS *
- All riders will have to go over cavalettis to get in and out of some tracks across the park and not all entry points have the ability to go around them
- Please keep in mind that there is a large section of common track to and from the ride base so please remember ride etiquette, slow down as approaching horses from any direction and please let the person know if you intend to pass and check that they are ok for you to pass and be safe.
- We are riding on roads so please ride sensibly and abide by the road rules at all times while on the roads
- We are also using parks tracks, which are very popular so please your ride etiquette towards other track users such as pushbike riders, walkers and other horse riders.
- No rubbish to be left on track, if you drop something and notice it please pick it up.
- Due to current covid rules there will be no lollies available at the checkpoints but there will be emergency water for riders.
