After in depth consultation with all organisers concerned, we are saddened to have to cancel the ride planned for the last weekend in May.  Mount Cole Endurance Inc. prides itself on not only a quality ride, but an enjoyable social gathering as well.  Due to the current the health warnings and restrictions, along with the challenge of supplying hygiene necessities for all, we sadly feel we cannot meet this goal.  Please watch for a bigger and better ride in 2020.  Apologies for any inconvenience.

The following announcement is made on behalf of the Brimpaen Organising Committee.

In light of the current COVID-19 situation affecting us all, it is with regret and great disappointment that after an emergency meeting this evening the Ride Organisers of the Brimpaen Endurance Ride after lengthy discussions with all parties involved, the Brimpaen Recreational Hall Committee, Horsham Shire Council, our catering team and also in line with other Equine events the decision has been made to postpone our ride with a new date hopefully being set for later in the year.

The VERA SMC fully supports the decision of the organising committee in this matter.

The VERA SMC is very happy to announce some additional rides on our calendar:

  • VERA Training Weekend - 14 & 15 March at Rosedale. 40, 20, 10 & 5 km on both days. This will be a no frills ride run by the VERA Committee with all profits going to the bushfire appeal.
  • Eldorado - 16 & 17 May 2020 at Eldorado. 100 elevator, 40 and 20 km.
  • Tallangatta Valley - 21 & 22 November 2020 at Tallangatta Valley. 40, 20 & 5 km on both days.

These rides will be added to the VERA Calendar soon and further details will be posted as they become available.  Many thanks to the Ride Organisers at Eldorado and Tallangatta for putting their hands up to get some more rides on our calendar.

A few things regarding horse logbooks for the year.

Could all members please complete the Annual Logbook Return for all horses that you have owned during 2020. This will help Ride Secretaries during the year.

Check your YELLOW horse logbook inside front cover for the AERA registration - this may be for lifetime - great, no issues. If it is annual - you will need to apply for another annual registration for 2020 or upgrade to lifetime horse registration to be able to enter an endurance ride (80km or greater) this year.

and lastly - when applying for your new novice logbook you need only purchase the logbook. The AERA registration is only relevant once you have successfully completed the qualifying distance and have forwarded the application to upgrade the blue book to a yellow book.

All forms can be found on the VERA website under Forms > Horse Forms.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone as the year progresses.

Regards

Bronwyn – VERA Logbook Registrar.

As we head into the wind down for the year, with two more rides to go, the SMC is starting to get prepared for the AGM and Presentations. We are currently investigating a couple of venues at which to hold an afternoon AGM followed by a sit down meal and presentations.

Our Pointscore Officer, Caroline Noble, has asked that all current trophy holders return the trophies to Carl Adamson as soon as possible to allow the engraving of the trophies to be completed before the AGM/Presentations. The trophies must be with Carl by 1st December.

If anyone wishes to apply for the VERA Horse Lifetime Distance awards please complete the form available on the VERA website and send to Caroline either by email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to 25 Thompson Road, Tynong North, 3813. These must be received no later than 1st December as the sashes have to be ordered. Late submission of the form may result in disappointment if the time frame is too short.

Please also note that the 2019 Tom Quilty results are included in the End of Year calculations as per previous motion passed. Details of the current results are available on the AERASpace website.
