The VERA SMC would like to congratulate Digger Leehane on his selection to represent VERA at the 2021 Tom Quilty event in WA.  Digger will be heading across to be part of the Chief Stewarding team and will be assisting Head Chief Steward Tom McCormack and Assistant Head Chief Steward Mary Lou Locke.  We wish him the best for a fun time at the Quilty and safe travels.

The VERA SMC would like to advise that our State Honorary Vet, Narelle Cribb, will be VERA's veterinary representative at the 2021 Tom Quilty event in WA. We all wish Narelle a great time over in WA and safe travels. Thank you for continuing to do the best to maintain the welfare of our horses.

Victoria has the honour of again hosting the Tom Quilty event in 2023.  Victorian Quilties have always been very popular and have attracted good fields.  We’ve had some wonderful Quilties in the past put on by a great band of people who have showcased our countryside and our friendly approach.  VERA are looking for a dedicated band of folk who will be willing to put in a lot of hard yards to run this prestigious event and make our state proud once again.

It is now feeling as though our Quilty is to become a reality!!!

With five meetings under our belt the Tom Quilty committee have come back with renewed vigour and enthusiasm about bringing you a very memorable Quilty in 2021.

Here is an update.

The AERA in conjunction with WAERA, Tom Quilty 2020 Committee, NSWERA and Tom Quilty 2021 Committee would like to advise that the 2020 Tom Quilty event has been cancelled. This is necessary due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation and the impact the pandemic is having on being able to prepare for and run the Tom Quilty. The 2021 event will be held at Collie, WA and will be hosted by the WA Tom Quilty Committee. All subsequent Quilty events will be delayed by a year with the Tooraweenah NSW Quilty being run in 2022.

AERA would like to sincerely thank all the parties involved in the many discussions over the past 7 weeks. This has been a multifaceted issue, unprecedented in our endurance history. Everyone contributed to the discussion and worked towards the best outcome for the sport and the collaborative approach was very much appreciated. WAERA and the Tom Quilty 2020 Committee would like to express its deep gratitude to the Tom Quilty 2021 and NSWERA Committees for their understanding and empathy in this situation and for their co-operation. The AERA sincerely wishes the WA and NSW Quilty Committees every success with their events.

AERA, WAERA and the WA Tom Quilty Committee will be working to determine a suitable date in 2021 and a further announcement will be made once this is finalised.
